21-12-2017 ICTY King Willem-Alexander and UN Secreatary-General António Guterres arrive for the closing ceremony of the Yugoslavia Tribunal at the Ridderzaal in The Hague.
The tribunal was established in 1993 by the United Nations Security Council at the time of the Balkan conflict.
The mandate of ICTY includes prosecuting and prosecuting persons suspected of committing international crimes after 1991 in the former Yugoslavia.
The court has jurisdiction over four types of crimes: genocide, crimes against humanity, violations of law of war and serious violations of the Geneva Conventions of 1949.
